Toddy Coffee Maker

I use a Toddy Coffee Maker. A Toddy Maker is a means to make cold water processed coffee syrup. From this syrup I get the best coffee I ever had. What I like most about it is that I can make all the coffee syrup I need for two weeks at a time.
The next best thing about a Toddy Maker is that it is really easy to clean. I have had Mr. Coffees in the past and they are very difficult to clean and using the packaged coffee machine cleaners that come from the store smell so much that I had to use them outdoors, which meant I could only clean my Mr. Coffee in good weather.
The Toddy maker makes about fourteen or so MUGS of coffee which I suppose would translate to about 21 cups of coffee. I have been using a Toddy Maker since the early 1980's and the only problem is that they are not sold in many stores and when I broke the carafe I had a bit of a time trying to find a replacement. But now I buy from the company that makes them in Texas. I can get my filters there too. The filters are reusable for months and months - just rinse them and store in a container or baggie in the freezer.
I find that the Toddy Maker removes all the bitterness from coffee and makes inexpensive brands taste very much like Kona coffee.
Another good feature is that there is no waste. I never throw out an old half of a pot of coffee that sat around too long. I make exactly the amount I want each time as fast as I can heat water. The only downside, perhaps, is that every two weeks I must brew a new batch of coffee syrup. I have to set up the cannister and soak the coffee. This takes up less space than a dinner plate, but I have grown used to having my kitchen counter free from coffee appartus. This is not a big downside in my opinion. I would reccomend this system to anybody willing to listen and have given it as gifts more than a few times.
