The convenience of Mr Coffee 4 cup coffee maker

I am a single widow who drinks only a couple of cups of coffee each day. I need it in the morning to wake up and in the early afternoon to stay awake.
Originally, many years ago I had purchased a fancy coffee maker, the ones that have all the bells and whistles you know which one I'm talking about. It brewed perfect coffee of course, but it was way too big for me. It made up to 12 cups each time. As I said before, I only drink at the most 2 cups a day. I don't have too many visitors so, most of the time, I would wind up throwing a great deal of coffee down my drain.
A friend had recommended I try buying a smaller coffee maker and so I started searching for one with the same perks as the one I owned but with a smaller capacity. Needless to say, I did not find one.
However, I did find a small, cutsie model of the MrCoffee brand. Hummm I thought, this is kind of good for what I need. Only 4 cups at a time would work. Of course, I would have wanted the convenience of being able to set up the machine the night before and just push the Start button in the morning, but, after all, you can't have everything! So I decided to purchase the 4 cup Mr Coffee coffeemaker.
It is a small machine, so it does not occupy too much space on my kitchen counter. My kitchen is quite small and the convenience of this machine being so tiny is appreciated. I believe these machines are manufactured by Sunbeam. I do not see the model # on the bottom because it is faded by now. I purchased this particular unit about 5 years ago and paid approximately $14.00. Can't beat the price!
It brews really delicious coffee each and every time. Of course, it is not as fancy as the one I had before, but I enjoy my early morning coffee while I read my newspaper or work at my computer.
The small town where I live has very hard water with a high content of calcium and other stuff that cause the coffee maker to build up a great deal of the white stuff. What I do every two months or so is combine a mixture of white vinegar, salt and water and brew it thru, allowing it to remain in the water container for an hour or so before turning the coffee pot on. It cleans the container quite well. Then I just pour plain water and brew it thru a few times to get rid of the vinegar and salt. I know a lady who has the same coffeepot and she uses a product called Lime Away mixed with water and then proceed to clean the pot by brewing several times before making her next pot of coffee. But, personally, I am afraid of using anything that could be harmful.
Hope this article has been of some help. I would definitely recommend purchasing a Mr Coffee 4-cup coffeemaker if you are a single person.
