Review of the Hamilton Beach Michael Graves Coffeemaker

by Donna

A Review of the Hamilton Beach Michael Graves Coffeemaker. We owned a Black and Decker Spacemaker coffeemaker for probably around ten years until it finally went out. I think that is an excellent track record for a reasonably priced coffeemaker. I hear someone out there saying "Well, why does the title of this article say Hamilton Beach and not Black and Decker?" The reason is that our kitchen is very small and even though the coffeemaker was mouinted under the cabinet the coffeemaker still managed to eat up a lot of counter space. So I was actually kind of glad when the Black and Decker went out. Well, being the good little ex-girl scout that I am I managed to have a backup coffeemaker in the basement. Unfortunately it was the cheapest piece of junk coffeemaker that has ever been manufactured. It was a less then 10 dollars Chefmate coffeemaker. You could get one cup of hot coffee out of it in the morning and that was it.

We were finally able to swing the money to buy a new coffeemaker and I knew exactly the model I wanted. It was a Hamilton Beach Michael Graves 12 cup programmble coffeemaker. I had learned on television that Consumer Reports had run tests on several different popular brands of coffeemakers and only one had managed to brew coffee at the optimal brewing temperature (I don't recall what that was). So I decided that was the coffeemaker I wanted. I am extremely pleased with my choice.

The Hamilton Beach Michael Graves coffeemaker has a very sleek, futuristic appeal to it especially with the cool blue light that stays on in the front. The coffeemaker was designed by famous designer Michael Graves. The excellent design is evident in every feature of the coffeepot. The handle of the carafe is very comfortable and the carafe pours driplessly. The coffeemaker has a removable water reservoir that is easy to fill. Most importantly the last cup of coffee you pour is just as hot as the first one. The coffeemaker is easy to program as well. All in all, an excellent product for a reasonable price (mid-40's) and I am very pleased with my purchase.

Hamilton Beach Automatic or Safety
by: Ed LaBelle

The Important Safeguards on page 2 of the Owner's
Manual for the Hamilton Beach/Graves design coffee maker (model no.40304)advises "Unplug from
the outlet when either the coffeemaker or clock is not in use and before cleaning." When the user
follows this requirement for safety the clock disappears! Next morning, assuming that you have set the clock and preprogrammed the Automatic Brew the previous evening, you will not have a nice hot cup of hot brew ready. You will have to reset the clock and program.
You could leave the coffee maker plugged in and you should have a nice hot cup of coffee waiting for you. Which is it Hamilton Beach, automatic coffee or safety ? Ed LaBelle
