coffee-makers

Problems with Keurig B60 & B70

We love the coffee but the coffee makers have major problems. We have had to return four coffee makers in five months. Our best one worked for two months. The problem for three of them was it would turn off right after filling your cup. The last one made a horrible noise and never filled the internal tank with water.

Today we bought our fifth Keurig and this time it is the small one without a tank of water. I hope this one can keep working or we will have to give up on these wonderful coffees.

Mistake NEW

What a shame, a great idea, a terrible product! I have read on this sight all of the problems that we have experienced and more. We are not even bothering to get in touch with the company again. In the trash, what a waste of money!

Bad Smell and Taste; etc. NEW
by: Mr. Fed-Up

We purchased a B60 for Christmas and it worked great, right up until the time the dreaded "PRIME" light came on. Followed recommended procedures and got one or two cups before the light came on again. Called customer service and they shipped a new machine. Now we have a bad taste/smell problem. Tried recommended procedures, still nothing. Called Keurig again; sending another machine, but i have my doubts this will be any better. What annoys me is Keurig HAS to know about these problems, but never admit to any of them on the phone or their website. We like the coffee and convenience, but are getting FED-UP!

KEEPS SHUTING OFF
by: Ralph D'ANTONIO

I have a B60.

Simply, when I can keep the unit on long enough, it will brew me a cold cup of coffee.
It all started by constantly going to the reset mode. We had enter the time & date everytime we wanted a cup.

Tired of all that we had to do just to get a cup of coffee. We decided to stop using it. Will still have 2 cases of coffee & tea that we'll never use.

I'm very disapointed.

Good and Bad
by: Charlie

My friends have had their Keurig for a while and when I tried the coffee I was very impressed. They surprised me when they arrived for Thanksgiving dinner with a Keurig for my own. Needless to say I was delighted. Everything was fine until just after Christmas when I noticed it was taking a while for the Ready To Brew to come on and the light to blink. I make the large cup in the morning. I've had no half cup syndrome, no backflow to the tank problem, no descaling problem, just great coffee every morning till now. It appears there is something going on with the electronics that isn't right. Every day it takes longer and longer to indicate Ready To Brew. Today it got up to 40 minutes. I set it to turn on earlier and earlier but 40 minutes is just unacceptable and I'm concerned that the unit is defective and I'm afraid it may actually be overheating internally. My friends paid green cash money for the unit and of course they didn't give me the receipt when they presented it to me. I took it back to Kohl's and they scanned it and said it wasn't one of their units, my friends insist it was purchased at Kohl's and they were excited that it also came with the large selection of K-Cups. A woman from the appliance department said they did sell them, but only as a promotional item last Fall, but, none the less, they wouldn't exchange it. So much for Kohl's, I cancelled my account with them and will be contacting Keurig directly regarding the issue. Sorry everyone is having issue, but mine worked great except that it took forever to be ready to brew. I have used only filtered water and was drinking way more coffee than before I received the unit, but it's in the box in the garage will it will sit until Keurig decides what they are going to do about it. In the meantime I'm not suggesting to anyone, anymore to purchase their product. Thanks for everyone taking the time to post their comments and Happy New Year to all!

Known Problem
by: Jack

I have a b60 special edition model that went belly up after just over a year..No lights, no noise,no warranty.. I called Keurig to see if there was a known problem or fix and they opted to replace the entire unit free without me even having to ask..The product didn't last as long as I would have hoped for the price but at least they are good about the replacement and hopefully will get the bugs ironed out because it does make a great cup of coffee

Bad taste
by: Anonymous

My daughter-in-law and myself received a B6o for Christmas and we have tried everything and the bad plastic/chemical taste. We are not pleased. We even tried using our own coffee and it still smells like plastic/chemicals and does not taste good. We are taking them back.

4 days great then trouble
by: Mike W.

I got his as a gift Xmas 2011 (model B79). Monday thru Thursday worked great then as of Friday morning it only brews 4 oz at 7.25 oz setting. All other settings are about the same, brewing between 4-5 oz. Tried all the troubleshooting to no avail.
I never did want one of these anyway since I saw it as a high tech Chinese-made gizmo and I had been using a French press as well as my trusty Krupps 4-cup coffeemaker.
My only regret is I bought a $13 dollar box of coffee K-cups that I thought I'd be using up. I was skeptical (hated it) when I got it but I thought it would last at least a year...not just 4 days. To me its not worth the trouble to try to return it after reading the other letters here.

Less than full cup from Keurig
by: blanham

Our Keurig was making 3/4 cup of coffie and forcing the remaining water back into the reservoir. The maker was less than six months old and we have used only distilled water. I put the nozzle of my air compressor into the plastic reservoir over-flow spout and injected air. Water spewed from the needle and water intake port. The "fix" worked. I just made two cups of coffie with no problem and no back flow into the water reservoir. I suspect that this problem is caused by a valve that sticks or a collasped line that allows the water to escape back into the water reservoir.

b60 Prime problems
by: D

1st B60 starting flashing "prime" 2 weeks after purchasing. Called the company, they walked me thru the steps...problem continued. They offered to replace free of charge as long as I sent them the K-cup holder. I refused. I just don't have time to stand in line at the post office, etc. Plus for the price I paid for plastic....they should stand behind their product & replace a defective product. Well they agreed to send me a new one anyway.

2 weeks of use and the new one is doing the same thing. Again, they offer to send another. NOT ACCEPTABLE. I am now waiting for someone from their corporate office to call me. I want a full refund for the cofeemaker AND the box of 80 K-cups I just ordered....or I want an upgrade. Seems the B60 is defective.

If I don't get satisfaction I plan to go to the Better Business Bureau ... I suggest everyone who gets no satisfaction to do the same.

Keurig is making a inferior product and over charging the consumers.

I'm thinking about trying a French Press to make may coffee.

Short Cup Solution
by: Anonymous

I had the same problem with the short cups, There is a filter in the top of the maker between the heated tank and the spout, When this gets clogged water reroutes back into the reservoir. To clean the filter first remove the handle ( 2 screws on each side) and then remove 2 screws under the lid on either side of the needle. you will see the filter inline right on top. Slide the hose clips back and remove the filter. You can soak it in vinegar or just rinse it good and exercise the filter valve to make sure it moves, try blowing through it. After I cleaned it the machine worked fine.

I would think the majority who complain about Keurig's products are not out to scam the company. I'm sure that they have better things to do with their time than try to get a free coffee maker.

I, for one, have had my Keurig replaced 3 times in less than 1 year. I would much rather have a coffee maker that works than get a new replacement every time I call them. Troubleshooting has been worthless. Though I appreciate that Keurig is willing to send a new replacement, that is the least they should do. I also am tired of having to mail back the K-cup holder every time. I have better things to do with my time than spend gas and time at the post office sending this stupid part back.

I have a Mr. Coffee machine that I have had for 10+ years and it's still going strong, I go back to it every time my Keurig quits working.

Most of us Keurig customers just want a decent-lasting Keurig and not looking for a free handout.

Try calling the company they will troubleshoot with you and often will replace the brewer even if its out of warranty. The company knows there are ongoing problems and some of them are the people that try to scam them out of replacements they are not entitled to. That doesnt even include the ones gotten fraudulantly through ebay and amazon with stolen credit cards. If you bought something at costco its their problem not Keurigs who knows what happened after they aquired it take it back to where you bought it. What about all the phoney free coffee coupons that people are so quick to use. All this trying to get more than you are entitled to is what makes and keeps costs up. If your brewer is less than a year old it can be replaced. If its 3-5 you have gotten your money's worth move on nothing lasts forever. How many of you complainers replace your cell phone or computer every year or two?Oh and if you actually flush them out with vinegar like your supposed to they actually work better gives better tasting coffee and last longer. For those of you that dont you probably lie to your hygenist about flossing too.

Dead B60 piece of Junk
by: Dean

I have had this B60 for two years and it up and dies. These units are not worth the money Kuerig charges for them. They are cheaply made in China with substandard engineering.

Save your money and use a FGrench press if you want single serving. It tastes better too.

Will not buy a Kuerig again

Response to Disappointed
by: MinaC

Like "Disappointed" I have also found that if you lift the water tank slightly and re-seat it, it will eliminate getting the dreaded "prime" message after brewing a cup of coffee. I haven't tried refilling every time I brew a cup but will see if that works also.

I decided that I am writing a letter to Keurig's corporate offices and advise them that they need to be working on a solution to the problems with the B60 and B70; otherwise, they are going to end up with a bunch of irate ex-customers. Though it helps that Keurig will readily replace the coffee maker, I think most of us consumers would much rather they come up with a solution to this problem. I, for one, am tired of requesting a replacement and then have to send back the Kcup holder to prove that my request is bonafide and not made up. I have better things to do in my busy life and it's getting to be a pain in the rear.

Pump problem
by: Dissappointed

I reported earlier that I was about ready to exchange my Keurig Signature Brewer if I a have 1 more problem. So far, I've been able to make it work with some watchfulness.

First, I try to keep it full and make sure that it's taking in water before and after I brew a cup. If I see that no water is being drawn in from the outer tank, I turn it off immediately before the dreaded prime light can get activated. I believe that this somehow prevents something bad happening to the pump and causing the prime warning.

Then I take out the water tank, top it off with water if it needs it, place the cap on, and snap it all back in place at once. If it doesn't need water, just take out the tank, and then snap it back in and turn it back on.

This has worked so far, but you really can't leave it alone when you hear it pumping. If you let it run and no water is pumping, I think it just messes up the machine more. I hope this helps.

What a Piece of Junk
by: Anonymous

The darn thing just stopped working. No lights, no nothing. Outlet works fine. Just dead. B60 model. Junk. Never in my life have I seen or heard of a coffee maker giving out after 10 months of use. I had a Mr. Coffee that I probably bought 25 years ago for $20 last until I threw it away after receiving the Keurig B60 as a Christmas present.

B 70 problem
by: Anonymous

Got our B 70 on August 28th 2011. Loved the machine. Some friends in Oregon had one and we thought it was nice. On October 10th with only two of us using it, it started to give us trouble. The prime light comes on and nothing works. Went on line and tried all there fixes, which only seem to work for a day or two tops. On October 20th went back to costco to return it only to be told we don't take these machines back anymore. Send it to the manufactor only. Well blew a cork and low and behold Costco gave us our money back. We got a new B 70 that day. Will let you know about the machine in a week or two. Love the coffee this machine makes.

2nd Brewer Replacement - Getting old!!
by: Mina C

This is the 2nd brewer that we are having replaced under warranty in less than 1 year. Both have the same issues: you get one cup of coffee then "prime" comes on. We unplug the brewer and turn it back on, then it goes through the warming up process and is ready for another cup. I contacted Keurig (again) and they walked me through the process of emptying the water reservoir, shaking it vigourously, then placing back on brewer and filling it back up with water. Then they asked that I brew 3 cups of plain water in a sequence. Needless to say, there was no way this could be done without unplugging and replugging the brewer. They asked if I could see any residue in the water. I said no. After all of this, they advised they would send a new brewer.

I asked if this was a continuing issues with this specific model as it seems there are a lot of complaints on the Internet regarding this same issue. They said each model has different issues but they really don't get that many complaints (don't know if I believe this). I told them that, though I do appreciate them sending a new brewer, I am getting tired of sending the Kcup holder back each time. It's costing me time and money.

I agree with most everyone that Keurig needs to either figure out what the problem is and fix it or give customers their money back. We all have enough on our plates each day without having to make time to call Keurig each time, go through some ridiculous process of troubleshooting, get told we'll be getting a new brewer and then having to package and mail the Kcup holder back from the current brewer. It's a pain in the behind!!!

Defective pumps/primer problem
by: Disappointed

I recently bought a Keurig Signature Brewer from Sam's club. About 2 weeks later I was forced to return it because of constant "primer" problems.

Just before we had the primer problem, we ordered our buy 2 get 2 free boxes of 24 K-Cups from Keurig as registered owners. So from that point, I guess you could say we were kind of stuck with at least 96 K-cups of coffee, but no brewer. However, Sam's club has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so we got a replacement unit.

The replacement unit worked great and we again enjoyed about 2 weeks worth of coffee. I thought, this second unit works great, maybe the first unit I bought was lemon.

However, I'm sorry to say that it is starting all over again, just like clockwork. You will hear the unit working, but for some reason the pump wont take water into the inner tank when you are trying to brew a cup, and the primer light goes on. Then you have to go through this ritual of shutting off and unplugging the unit, dumping the water, re-seating the tank, and hoping that it will work after all the trouble. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I'm about one bad problem away from going back for another replacement. I'm not sure that will work either.

I've thought about what Keurig could do with future models. Maybe they could add a manual primer button such as what you might see on some lawnmowers to help start them. Maybe they should insulate the inner tank which is hot from the outer tank which is plastic and can melt. Maybe there is some kind of flaw in the electronics, I don't know. These coffee makers aren't cheap, they should last.

To end, I hope that this may somehow help others, and that some Keurig representative out there is listening. It should be a joy to drink a cup of coffee, not a job.

Bad Taste
by: Sue E

I see someone else has a problem with a bad taste. We got a replacement for our B70 because it just stopped working, but the replacement had a plastic/chemical/glue smell that affected the taste and smell of the coffee. I ran a lot of water through it & tried vinegar, too, but it didn't help the taste. We received a replacement for that one, too, but we're having the same bad taste/smell problem.

Expensive Piece of Junk
by: Karen

Bought my first B60 in April 2011 and am currently waiting to receive my third one from Kuerig because of the same recurring issues - prime light comes on after every cup brewed - brews only a half cup or less every time. Very noisy - gurgles like it's about to explode or take off. Kuerig needs to either 1) fix the issue and not just keep sending another replacement that doesn't work; or 2) recall the units and reimburse people for the cost and inconvenience they have caused. If they are not going to produce a quality product, then they need to step up and do the right thing!

Explosive Keurig
by: Anonymous

My second Keurig just died. I got one for Christmas in 2010. The first one exploded spitting coffee all over the kitchen- then got hot- I mean red hot. They finally sent a replacement after going through all of the troubleshooting over the phone. The new one just exploded coffee grounds everywhere and started smoking. I didn't see fire but red hot coils and smoke.

I have to say I had my Bunn for 13 years and it was still working. I liked the idea of a fresh cup every time. Well that isn't going to work out for me.

KEURIG PRIME PROBLEMS
by: Anonymous

this is the fifth keurig coffie maker I returned to Keurig. I must say they have sent a replacement each time since it was under the warentee. The problem is each one they have sent had the same problem . The prime light comes on and either you have to reset the water holder or it does not work a all. They do not address the problem. If there is a factory problem with these coffie makers they should recall them and and return your money. They are a nice machine if they would work right Keurig should address this problem with the prime.

by: Anonymous

I couldn't possibly read the multitude of comments listed here. After 20, I had enough. I also have my issues with this coffee maker. I called in once, but then I resolved the problem on my own and it stopped blinking. Now I'm back to where I was, with the refilling, wiping under reservoir, banging, slapping, shaking, when all I wanted was a fast cup of coffee in the morning! If I don't fix it this time, I'm calling and I hope they don't send me a commentor's rehabed.

More than enough issues.....
by: So. Florida Coffee Drinker

So we are on our fourth brewer in less than two years. The first three had descaling issues that nothing could resolve. Keurig must know this is a problem because they keep sending new replacements at no charge. Well the fourth has worked about 3 months and now the it will not prime itself. I have to take the cannister off, press the little plunger on the bottem, then reset it. I'm calling today and asking for my $160.00 dollars back. I'm sure they'll say no but enough is enough.

working again.. yeh!!
by: Anonymous

Hi after trying to brew my fix for the morning, my machine decided to shut down and nothing was happening. Turned the power on half a dozen times, and still nothing :( Oh dear.. where is that wretched kettle deleted from my kitchen benchtop a little over a year ago??? And wouldnt you know it, the warranty is finished in April.
So, I have read the comments below, and figured my machine was heading for higher places.
Then I read the keurig site and decided to give the machine the old white vinegar descale just for safe measure.. didnt really want to discard something that still looks great, and walla!! It worked.
I cleaned the tip of the needle in the brewing area with vinegar and toothbrush. Put a needle into the opening and moved around a little.
Then poured two cups of vinegar into the machine. Let it sit for 10mins or so.. and tried the whole power on and brew routine.. YEH!! No new coffee maker for me today.. worth a try before you buy. :)

Not worth time or $$$
by: Linda

Total agreement with comments. Loved it for the 6 months it worked. Got it for Christmas, and by July it died. There is NO water coming out at all. I only used filtered water in it, and descaled it. Turned it upside down hit the bottom, still doesn't work. When you add the cost of machine, cost of K cups and amount of time before you have to replace...guess it may be cheaper to just go thru Starbucks in morning.

by: gary swansonAnonymous

That's right. I read on another site of all the problems people were having with thier Keurig. Turns out, it was the same problem we were having. Half cups, machine turning off, etc etc. So many people wrote in comments and said to take the resevoir off, turn it over at the sink and spank the bottom of the machine several times. I did, and it works like new. I was going to throw it away, instead we went to Costco and bought a box of cups today.(a lot cheaper there than anywhere).

I have as of this moment finally given up and thrown my Keurig B70 unit in the trash. Started off last year with leaks and failure to brew. Latest problem is I can't life the handle to insert a pod. 4 or more is too many
by: Anonymous

I purchased a large coffee maker last year. It worked well for about 4 months then just shut off and quit working. I exchanged it for one of the same. It quit after 3 months. Next time I purchased a small single cup and so far no problems after 3 months. The next problem was another large one we had purchased for our 2nd home. It quit after 2 months. I exchanged it for the Mr coffee//Keurig single cup. That was 2 months ago and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I followed all directions for de-scaling and so forth on all the makers and still nothing.
In total we went through 4 or more and have decided I will not purchase any more if or when the last 2 decides to stop working

never a full cup
by: Anonymous

I had recieved one of the B60 three size cup machine as a christmas present loved it;...for the first couple of months, it brewed a the third cup size full, the second cup size full and the first size cup full. Today the second and the third cup brews as supposed too, but the third cup the biggest doesn't. I tried cleaning as directed by the manufactor and that didnt seem to work. Now what i do for the most ounces (third cup size) is I push the second cup button first then when that is done I push the first cup button which now gives me the BIG fullest cup of coffe that I am looking for. Why should one have to do soooo many steps in brewing a cup of coffee. Maybe one of us who have bought these machines needs to get a job at Kuerig as a PR person to let them know that they are overcharging for this product that is not 100% reliable. It would be great to know what there financials are and how much money they are loosing......

First Return
by: Anonymous

Hi All,

I just went through the hassle of dealing with customer service. They have sent me a new machine but what a hassle to go through! Im particularly annoyed that they know about the pump issues (admitted to my by the customer service rep) but they still made me go through all of the hassle.

They need to know some basic trouble shooting! Cause and effect!!! If you arn't darn well drawing water from the external reservoir how are you going to measure the amount of water pumped into the cup!

THe shipping for returning the K-Cup holder with insurance and tracking was enough where I could have bought another cheep "mr Coffee" type.

I am soooo ticked off at keurig!! They know they have an issue and keep selling junk!.

Iv bought this machine a bit out of my class, financially speaking. I suppose to most people a couple of hundred bucks doesn't mean much. For me it does. So Im particularly ticked off at Keurigs attitude. To me a $200 coffee machine darn well batter perform like a $200 machine! It doesn't!!!

I wish I had never heard of these crooks!

Ready for my fourth
by: Anonymous

We bought our first Keurig at Christmas time 2009. I've had two replaced and my third one has stopped working! I'm going to call them again, but the last time (about six months ago) they assured me they fixed the problem. Yeah, right!

3 brewers in 18mos
by: Anonymous

Just have to agree with all the other complaints, short cups, back flowing into water tank and just not working at all. Customer service just keeps sending a new maker, but I would rather just have one that worked properly. I guess every 6 months I'll have to call customer service and have them send a new one. Wish they would just fix their problems and manufacture a product equal to the advertising they do.

internal cavity filled with water
by: mbmork

I'm on my 2nd machine in 15 months. The first one just stopped brewing when the pump died. This second one, a B-70 Platinum, spit and dribbled water all over when I used the refillable K-cup. I was able to fix that problem on my own, but not very impressed that I had to correct a flaw on a new machine. Now, after four months, I can't get a cup of coffee because the water is filling up the inside of the coffee maker. It's heavy and sloshing around in there and I have no way of getting the water back out. I'm back to using my french press.

3 Platinum Brewing System - outta here
by: Argy

About to call this afternoon telling them my third macine has broken. Press the button to brew - nothing. Love the coffee but the machine sucks. First one lasted 6 months, second one 5 months and the third 5 months. Same thing went wrong with all three. Customer service is great. They send me new machine every time. Do not know how they stay in business. For God Sakes man fix the problem.

what worked
by: Anonymous

I was having the short cup syndrome. found a YouTube video that suggested cleaning the small impeller (looks like a circle with an X across it) that is below the water tank. He used a water pick to clean it, I just used a tooth brush and water. It fixed the problem immediately. I cleaned the spike that punctures the K cup and did the vinegar descaling as well, but cleaning that impeller was the key. Good luck!

here we go again!!!
by: Anonymous

I am now going on my 3rd Keurig. I will say one thing, their customer service is more than willing to replace their defective coffee makers....HOWEVER....this is again, my 3rd machine!!! They work fine for several months, then out of the blue they totally screw up! Why doesn't Keurig FIX what is obviously a mechanical shortcoming; go back to the drawing board, or whatever it takes in order to make these right? I love the concept of Keurig. Just wish I could get a coffee maker that also loves making a good cup of coffee on a CONSISTANT basis! GEEZ!!!

Coffee temperature not hot enough.
by: Coffee lover

We purchased the Elite model Keurig. Even though the temperature range is between 187F and 192F the coffee never came out hotter than 160F. My wife and I like our coffee with cream but after adding the cream the coffee was at best luke warm. We returned it. I am now afraid to purchase another. Anyone else had this problem?

Smoking machine!
by: Anonymous

Tonight I had my Keurig plugged in, ready to brew, heard a "click", then started smelling electrical smoke in kitchen. I didn't have anything else plugged in, and a remodel 3 yrs. ago, I have all updated wiring. After I unplugged the machine, which is now turned off, the smell dissapated. When I plugged it back in, it came back. I still heats and runs, but something definately is burning inside. I had a neighbor come over to help troubleshoot with me and this appears to be the problem. I have it in the garage now and will be calling keurig!

Problems with Keurig
by: NJ Java Jinx

We bought our first Keurig for Christmas 2010. It just stopped functioning after 5 Months. On May 14, 2011 I trashed it, took a loss since it was beyond the 90 warrantee from the store where I bought it, and I purchased the Platinum model ($179). This model lasted 1 week and died. It just stopped functioning. I couldn't believe it and thought maybe I just got a defective machine, so on May 21, 2011 I returned it to Bed, Bath and Beyond and received a new Platinum model in an even exchange. This last model lasted 2 1/2 weeks and died. Again, it just stopped functioning. I just returned it and purchased a Cuisinart. I am done. I hope the Cuisinart lasts. I still have a boatload of K cups. What a huge dissappointment.

Keurig is "junk".
by: Anonymous

We have had ours for about a year and a half. Just had the usual problems until recently. Now the resevoir does not empty; the electroncs don't work (shuts off prematurely) and it's just a piece of junk! Don't buy unless you want major problems.

Priming Problem
by: Anonymous

I've had my Keurig B70 for 1 month. Worked find for 20 days and then I'd make a cup of coffee and the Prime light would come on. I'd take the water take out and replace it once or twice (as per their directions) and then I could brew another cup. This kept going on for every other cup of brew. I finally took it back to Costco and they replaced it with no questions. Brew my first cup and it worked just fine. I agree their is a problem with the machine. I"ll just keep taking it back until Keurig addresses their problem.

It also make a loude noise every time we turn it on also during making the coffee. Many of our friends bought it after they did try it at our home and they love it as well. we need it to work .

Plastic on top of main housing melted.
by: Cecil

We have had our B60 about 11 months. We have gone through short cup syndrome. This morning I turned the "thing" on and it kept shuting off without warming the water. I noticed the plastic on top of the main housing had melted and left two dime sized dimples. I'm afraid this could be a fire hazard. So now taking it back----don't want another.

3 Models - all quit!
by: Anonymous

- mt Brother-in-law and I bought our 1st one @ CostCo 2 yrs ago. (Special Edition) His died in 4-6 wks. Mine went about 8mo. then the tank started to leak. I returned it and they had a special on Platinum Edit. so I went for that. After 5mo. the water pump went haywire - "small cup syndrome". I returned it to CostCo for full refund; went to a home convenience store where we purchased our 3rd... the Personal Brewer Mini-Plus. Now it's croaked - making a terrible buzzing sound and NO brewed coffee coming through nozzle. I give up - I didn't sign up to learn to be the "Maytag Repair Man when I went with this technology and tossed my old Mr. Coffee!!

I'm on my 2nd keurig and now need a 3rd. If it wasn't for the fact I have a pirates stash of k cups I would NEVER buy one again.
Keurig service was polite and helpful. We got our 2nd machine within 9 days. It's the newer one cup model. It worked afor about 3 weeks and then started making the kcups explode so grounds were everywhere ruining the coffee ruining my morning while trying to get out to work.
don't buy this machine. when it worked I LOVED the coffee hate the machine.

Repair Keurig personal cup leak
by: Wally

The only problem i have had thus far is with the re-usable cup leaking while water was going through it. I called Keurig and they said to pull the round rubber gasket on the upper needle down a touch to make a better seal. I tried this but it soon went back to leaking again. I sent an e-mail to them and never got a reply.I decided to try adding adding a rubber gasket (thinner than the one on the machine) above the existing one and this worked just fine. You can take your griginal gasket to a plumbing supply for comparison and choose one a bit thinner and it will correct this problem. I trus this will help someone.

Water filling the main body of the brewer
by: Anonymous

I think have a different kind of problem than most of those described previously.

I got what appears to be by now the famous "short cup" of coffee. I tried a couple of runs, then just water, same thing each time.

So I pick up the machine without the water tank and whoa, is this thing heavy.

I shake the machine and can hear water sloshing around the inside of the main body.

So instead of water refilling the reservoir, its somehow filling up the main body of the machine, with no sign of it ever leaking out. I tried to remove the bottom plate but all you get to is the electronics, with the water still securely encased inside the machine.

Anyone else ever have this problem? It appears to be fatal to me, but would appreciate anybody who's tried to recover from this.

It looks like another brand is in order.

Green Mountain Wake Up!
by: Anonymous

Don't know why the string stopped last month. I'll just add my two cents. I am on my third brewer. This one, a B69, has just stopped working properly after 9 months. The first two lasted 13 months each. This is my third purchase and I'm livid. Each machine was well taken care of and descaled per instructions. The coffee is great, but the machines have an obvious problem in either their mechanics or circuit boards. They go out of cycle and can't be fixed. Have to find a reliable brewer. This drives me nuts!

Well, I will add this problem to the rest.

The other day my B77 was working fine and not even a short cup in sight. I went to plug it in it start up then work dispense a cup of coffee it did even do that. Find my book went through all of the troubleshooting step and including descaling. Now The water goes through the resevor nozzle (the upper one)and/or brews a half of cup and/or doesnt want to work..(Oh and sometimes it run through both nuzzles) $167.00 for this machince....it was nice to have but I am going to think twice about getting another one.

Frustrated
by: Percolator

Purchased four Keurig machines for Christmas gifts and two have already failed. One didn't work when we first plugged it in. All the lights flashed but it wouldn't do anything else. We spent a considerable amount of time with customer service jumping through "try this hoops" before they agreed to replace. The other was fine until today when it wouldn't fill the cup but would only flow back into the reservoir. Tried everything to resolve with no success. I went to the web for assistance and found all these complaints! The product is apparently over rated and has major defect issues. I wonder if the quality would have been better if it hadn't been made in China! If you own GMC stock I'd be selling fast!

B60 Problems and fixes
by: Anonymous

My B60 has the same issues as most others. I find that if the pump is running fast after brewing a cup I lift the tank and drop it back into place. This seems to stop the cavitation and it will pump water into the heater tank. The flow back problem has now occurred where 1/2 the water is routed into the overflow back into the tank instead of being used to brew the coffee. If you see it happening a open handed slap on top will free up the sensor and the machine will make the coffee. I have cleaned the machine thoroughly and descaled it with a gallon of white vinegar but it did nothing to stop these two problems. Teay are definately mechanical problems. Cleaning won't fix a defect! I don't like having to mess around with "fixes" on the machine but I can at least get a cup of coffee out of it. When I find out they have truly fixed the problem I will buy a replacement machine.

Keurig B60
by: judbut

I purchased this B60 Jan 3rd, 2011 and have had problems with it not refilling itself from the reserve tank. I too, went through the specialist who walked me through their check list. I have only used distilled water but they put me through the vinigar rinse. It got better for a couple of weeks then started doing the same thing and shutting itself down. Now, I am waiting for a new one and am sending the K cup back to them. I sure hope they have repaired the problem but after reading your remarks it's not to hopeful

Better than most
by: billdon

Bought my B70 at Kohls, one year and one week ago. Loved the coffee, ease of operation and minimal clean up despite occassional less than full cups. Noticed a month or so ago water was returning to the resevoir but that went away. Never de-scaled, used paper clips or performed any sort of maintenance. This morning it refused to turn on no matter what outlet I tried so I called customer service. They asked a few questions then said they would send me a replacement if I return the little brewer basket. Cut the top off one of the Kenyan cups and poured it into my single cup french press. Hope the replacement arrives quickly and hope it lasts at least a year.

In response to your comment: Feb 14, 2011 (Shocked) by Anonymous:

Apparently some of you including Keurig may believe that the vast majority of our comments are just made up or that we are all ignorant as to how to use, clean, or troubleshoot our Brewer problems. If you had truly read and interpret what was written, you would have noticed that most of us have done everything that the Manufacturer of the B60 and B70 Brewers have recommended and that includes using Filtered water as well as using the optional filter that is available. I can not speak for or against the Cuisinart Brewers and have not done a review on them, but I can say that I am about to receive my second replacement Brewer from Keurig and it will be a B76 model replacing the last 2 B70 Models. reply e-mail: gldamron@aol.com

Nothing But Problems
by: Betsy

Time to call again. I'm about ready to throw the thing out the window. I must say customer service isn't very helpful at all. They act like it's a surprise everytime they hear a complaint. It does make great tasting coffee, but it leaks, half-fills, cuts off within 45 seconds of brewing. It drips, it says it's out of water when it isn't. Hopefully, for everyone out there considering purchasing one of these high priced brewers will not get the B60 or B70.

Keurig B70 Coffee Brewer Problems
by: George Damron

This Comment is a follow-up from Feb. 11 2011. I woke up this morning again with the frustration of trying to brew a cup of coffee with my Keurig B70 Coffee Brewer. I ran the paper clip through all 3 ports on the dispensing nozzle with no luck. Finally I had to unplug the Brewer and waited a minute or two and after several attempts of raising and closing the lid, I was able to get about a half cup of coffee dispensed. Angrily, but with patience, I contacted Keurig again and of course they tried to put me thru the same troubleshooting procedures and I politely said: enough is enough, I should not have to endure this frustration every time I want to brew a cup of coffee and I want to talk to one of your Engineers and they told me to call back next week mon-thru-fri, but in the mean time they agreed to send me another B70 Brewer. This will be the 3rd. one. I thanked them and asked them, how many are they prepared to send me, before they really try to find out and admitt to their problems. I feel certain that the only way they will issue a recall and finally fix the problems is to receive a class action law suit or so heavy pressure from Consumer Affairs, rest assured, I won't give up until they come clean. I suggested they try reading the numerous negative comments on the web site. e-mail reply: :gldamron @ aol.com(Please dont leave email ids intact anywhere on the internet, you will get spammed otherwise...whoever wants to reply this email id remove the spaces between the id and then send the mail)

Platinum B70 Keurig Coffee Brewer
by: George Damron

After reading all the comments here, I think it's fair to say that Keurig Coffee Brewers have some serious issues. My first B70 purchased at Kohls started short filling at about 10 months. I kept up, the recommended cleaning/descaling recommended by Keurig every 2 mos. with White Distilled Vinegar and I always used Filtered water. Eventually after about 14 months, it would not brew a cup of coffee at all. I called Keurig and they agreed to send me another B70 even though mine was out of warranty. Well guess what, they sent me a new one back in July of 2010 and I started having very similar problems with the new one about 2 months ago. Sometimes it will shut off all by itself and sometimes I have to unplug it and try several times to brew a cup of coffee. I called them today and they tried putting me through all their little troubleshooting procedures that most often doesn't solve the problem. I will be calling them back every day until they provide me with a Brewer that actually works. I know that there is a problem with the the orifice of the pump and the dispensing nozzle, you know the one that gets plugged up and they tell you to use a paper clip to unplug it. I recommend anyone having trouble with their brewers to Keep calling Keurig until they admitt that they have some design issues with their Brewers, or if all else fails, buy a Tassimo, you won't have to clean or unplug the nozzle every time You brew a cup of coffee. My reply e-mail is:gldamron @ aol.com(Please dont leave email ids intact on the internet, you will get spammed otherwise...whoever wants to reply this email id remove the spaces between the id and then send the mail)

Mulitple problems, attempting remedies....
by: scott in nc

my first and only Keurig has lasted about 2 yrs with no problems. Now, water is returning to the reservoir; only 4 ounces of coffee is made regardless of which of the three sizes I choose; and it is erratically shutting down on its own. I've read the posts here. I've used the paper clip, I've 'banged' the right side to dislodge a possible stuck sensor, I'm going to now use the vinegar cleaning. Stay tuned, I'll post results later today in the event these options will help others.

We only had our $139 contraption for one month when it decided to only brew half cups (lucky us). Water going back into reservoir
by: Kevin

Our unit has had this issue for quite some time now, of putting water back into the reservoir and not making a complete cup.
Our solution is simple, just WHACK IT a few times on the right side. It is a STUCK FLOAT inside the heating section and the back fill is to keep it from overflowing inside your machine. Never thought about taking it back since we got it for FREE but Keurig definitely needs to look into these issues!

clog!!
by: Anonymous

The only problem my coffee maker had was a clog in the initial piercing unit. All the instructions were focusing on the exit needle, I don't know if they were referring to the exit needle being "exiting the machine" but I took it as the needle in the k-cup holder. I tried clearing that but didn't work then I pulled up the handle and took my little paper clip and stuck it in there to see if the clog was there. I tried it out and... it worked. I don't like to toss things out until I know for absolute sure that it is kaputt. In this case, fortunately, it worked!

I have loved my coffee maker since day one: Then the problem started. It would not take the water into the resevoir. I called Keurig, I called small appliance repair shops. nothing. then i read one of the comments here on this site. Frustrated !!!!
by: John NJ.

My first B60 lasted 4 years with careful maintenance just stopped brewing. I have since returned 2 more B60's in 3 months. both machines occasionally would brew half cup. Water would pour half in the cup and half back into the side reserve. I love the coffee so i'm looking into the Cuinsinart Brand, because i have read just as many complaints with the B70. Nobody can accuse me of not trying to stay loyal. Time to move on.

Broken part
by: B. Curran

For some reason the small plastic part that fits under the cup holder has broken into pieces over time. This causes the stream of coffee to shoot out in an erratic stream. I don't know where to get a replacement, as I bought my Keurig several years ago and don't have any of the paperwork.

Return it
by: Anonymous

I bought a Keurig B60 yesterday at a local "As Is" store for only $27. I got it home and it had the dreaded NOT READY message on the display. I tried everything I saw posted about how to clear it to no avail. Today I finally called the nearest Bed Bath and Beyond store and told them the problem. When asked how long I had the machine I told them "not very long". I also told them I did not have a box or a receipt. Not once was I asked where I bought it or how much I paid for it. I was told to bring it in for an exchange. When I walked in the store I gave it to the gal at the Service Desk and she told me to go get another one off the shelf, which I did. From the time I entered the store until I left was about 7 minutes. I now have a brand new Keurig for the total cost of $27 (plus I got 12 free K Cups in the box). This new machine is under warranty for 1 year and is, at the moment, working great. It pays to make a phone call and just ASK.

@ Council Bluffs, IA Coffee Lover
by: Ed E. Munstor

If the issue is only when you put in a K-Cup then the most likely problem is a clogged lower needle. Try shoving a paper clip through it to see if it's got coffee grounds/debris in it.

My issue with the B70 is the pump issue. I've tried using compressed air to blow out the lines and vinegar treatment to no avail. I don't think it's still covered under warranty but I guess I'll give it a shot.

Won't Brew/Shuts Off
by: Council Bluffs, IA Coffee Lover

In some respect I must be luckier then those who have posted comments previously since my Keurig has lasted 18 months before problems started. My Keurig was a gift so I don't have a receipt for an exchange. It started to brew only half-cups and has now stopped brewing. If we take out the k-cup, water will come through. But, as soon as we put the it in, it won't brew. I really miss the conveniece of having a one-cup brewer because I'm the only coffee drinker in the house. For $149.00 these coffe makers should last longer than they are. I'm not sure if I would purchas a new one for that kind of money.

First Cup problem
by: Anonymous

We also have a problem with the first cup after the unit is turned on. This issue does not occur every time but often. So far, my solution is as follows: (1) have an extra coffee cup or container handy, (2) remove the K-Cup, (3) turn the power OFF then back ON, Press BREW again. ---- The coffee maker will despense right away but since BREW was pressed twice you will get 2 cups worth (hence having the 2nd cup handy). When this is complete, replace your K-Cup aligning the hole on the bottom of the K-Cup with the poker. The coffee maker works fine from this point forward. Clumsy but you don't have to wait for the coffee maker to sort things out on its own.

We bought 2 B70 units for different homes. Both had the same problem of shutting off after the first cup was brewed. And one started having problems with not brewing a full cup. Neither unit had been used a full 6 months. Keurig was good about replacing each one. The second one they replaced I was asked me to send back the kcup holder from the problem unit. That got me thinking there must be others having the same problems. Visiting various web sites I found a lot of people are having all kinds of problems with all models. I love it when they work but if I start having problems with these next two, I will buy a different brand and will definitely do some research first.

I'm on number five
by: Darcy

I bought the special edition in November 2009. I had trouble within two months. Called the company and they sent me a new one. I continued to have problems and they sent me two more. In March (five months after original purchase) they upgraded me and this one was fine for 4 months and it is now having problems. It takes me 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee in the morning. I think Keurig needs to spend the money on improving their product instead of spending their money replacing coffee makers. I absolutely love my Keurig - when it works.

Frustrated
by: Judy

We are depating on wheather to purchase our fourth kuerig or not. First one never worked. The next one worrked for nine months and the last one only five days.Same problem with all, no water comes out. I heard they replaced the pumps, think they better get another company to manufactor the pumps and do a recall. We love the coffee and makers when they do work.Kuerigs reputation is at stake.....

Stopped working
by: Dave

Have just returned my first special edition Kuerig to Costco for exchange, no questions asked. I loved the Kuerig since my first purchase last Sept 2009. Just had machine stop presurizing the cup, hence no coffee. Hope this second machine lasts longer than 9 mos.

Same Trouble
by: Denise

Our coffeemaker is doing the same exact thing and this is our 2nd maker. We got it as a gift and we love it but it keeps giving us the same problem as yours was doing. It was purchased from Costco now we are going to call them, as the stores do not have them in stock anymore. Mmm, sounds a little fishy to me. But we will see...Thanks

Keurig Problems
by: Shel

I agree with you on the Keurig as I have also returned 2 Keurig brewers. I also purchased the new mini brewer when they first hit the market. I use it when I travel and use it in my office and it has worked perfectly. I love my Mini...
