Presto Super Speed Percolator CM9

by Connie
(Colorado in the USA )

My coffee maker is a Presto Super Speed Percolator CM9 with a 10 cup capacity, a stainless steel body and the tube and basket assembly for the coffee grounds.

It was purchased in 1972 when we moved into our 1st home. We had a problem with it not percolating shortly after buying it and sent it back for a replacement. That replacement coffee pot has given us many wonderful cups of coffee on these cold Colorado mornings.

Even though we decided it would be nice to have one of those modern Mr. Coffee brands with the glass carafe, we still kept our old faithful Presto.

We put old faithful Presto in the crawl space on a shelf and moved on to more modern coffee makers. We have gone through two Mr. Coffee coffee makers. I liked seeing the coffee in the glass pot but after the second one quit working on us, we brought out old faithful and have decided we should stick with a good thing.

I would not trade my Presto for any of the new coffee makers. They just don’t make them that well anymore. It has served us very well for 36 years so I guess we’ll keep it.

Granddaddy's percolator!
by: Anonymous

Are you kidding... I have my grandfather's Presto percolator... he died in '76 and I don't know how long he had used it, but I remember the only other coffee percolator he had was a glass one that cooked on the stove... so he must have had it for at least 15 years before he died.... I miss him but can think of him every day with my coffee... However, now the glass top has broken and I am having trouble finding a replacement... any ideas?

I received my Presto Super Speed Coffee Maker in 1966/67 as a engagement or shower gift,I not sure it was 42 or 43 yrear ago...And it is still going strong.

When I got devorced I took the coffee pot with me. FUNNY THING IS I DO NOT DRINK COFFEE, but with that Coffee Maker people swear I make the best cup of coffee.

Years ago I lost the top of the basket, that doesn't make any difference the coffee still comes out great.

I just had to let you know that my coffee maker is still the only one I use.

Presto Supern Speed Perc
by: Janet M

I bought the same one for my Mother in the 70's and claimed it when she passed away. I use it daily and there is no comparison to real perked coffee. The Mr. Coffee types just don't get hot enough or give the full flavor of coffee. The handle broke yesterday and I am getting a replacement from a parts store. Not the original syle but the pot still works great & as long as I can pour the coffee, who cares.

These are the absolute best!!!!!!!!
