My Free Gevalia Automatic Programable Coffee Maker Review

by Melissa
(PA, USA)

I am reviewing my Gevalia automatic programable coffee maker. It is stainless and black and brews up to 12 cups.

This is the coffee maker you always see advertised in magazines for free when you sign up for their coffee club, and yes that's how I received this one. I have had it for about 2 years now and it has held up really good. This is the first one of this brand that I have ever owned.

The only thing I have had to add to it and not replace was I added a permanent cone filter instead of throw away ones. The one thing I would improve on is when filling up the water resovoir on the back of this, if you go even a little over 12 cups it spills out a hole in the back of the machine. I have had to clean up many spills before I noticed this.

Also I noticed recently that the underneath of th machine where the heating element is was making my counter really hot so I am now keeping the machine on a glass cutting board.

Other than these small infractions it is a good machine and I really could not pass on the price "FREE" with the purchase of some coffee.

My previous coffee machine was a Black and Decker which I still have as a backup. It was not fancy, but it did the job. The only problem with that coffee maker was everytime you opened the lid after you made a pot of coffee the condensation would drip down the back of the machine all over the counter. I have experienced this with my gevalia coffee maker also and I don't know why they all seem to do this. I would say my free Gevalia coffee maker is way better than the Black and Decker in looks and brewing time.

how do you clean the inside of the reservoir?
by: Anonymous

I have the 2 decanter model and love it. I have recently noticed that there is a brownish-colored discoloration within the side which I use for MY coffee, which is more often than my husband uses his side. Is it mineral deposits? How do you clean the reservoir? thanks calevl@yahoo.com
