My 12 Years old Mr. Coffee, Coffee Maker

To be completely honest, my current coffee maker is a Mr. Coffee that is about 12 years old. For me, and I’m certainly a regular coffee drinker, the most important feature of mine – or any coffee maker is simplicity.

On the occasions that I’ve gone out shopping for a new machine, thinking that I could find a new and improved one, is that there are too many unnecessary features such as timers, strength of brew, different settings for different kinds of beans and what have you.

All I want is a machine with a place to put a filter with a couple big scoops of coffee, a hot pad, a sturdy urn and an of and off switch.

When I go out to eat or stay in a hotel or am somewhere else when I drink somebody else’s coffee, the thing I notice most isn’t necessarily how it’s brewed, or by what, but rather what kind of coffee they use.

If you use good old Maxwell House (to me) it’s going to taste the same whether I brew it in my own reliable coffee maker or whether it’s pressed through a golden sieve.

“Keep it simple, stupid” is a phrase that has served me well through my years and I can’t say it any better when it comes to coffee makers.

Before I go to bed at night I fill the filter with coffee so when I get up in the morning all I have to do is fill it with water and turn it on. By the time I’m out of the bathroom and dressed it’s ready for me to go.

Done…and I’m on with my day. Frankly, too fancy of a gadget would just tick me off when I’m not awake in the morning and who wants to start their day that way?
