Mr. Coffee model FTX45

My Coffee Maker is Mr. Coffee model FTX45. I have had it for about 3 months. I was looking for a better machine than my last Black & Decker, because the cord shorted out suddenly on two machines. That was a definite design flaw and they did not replace it the second time, so I was set on not getting another Black and Decker - even though I liked that coffee maker fairly well.

I found the features on the Mr. Coffee worth the additional price and so far I am fairly happy with this purchase. The maximum amount of coffee it can make is 12 cups which is plenty for us.

Although I do not program it regularly, I love having this feature for extra early mornings. There were a few must have features I was looking for: pause and serve and auto shut off. These are pretty standard, but still there are some out there that do not have either, so that was a key for me.

I have only used the cleaning cycle thing once, but it worked fine as far as I could tell. The things that made me choose this particular coffee maker were the Brew strength selector and the adjustable temperature warming plate. I have not been disappointed. Both these features allow me to make my coffee hot and strong! That is the key for me.

I thought I would also like having the ready signal chime to let me know that the coffee was done, but I actually have not kept that turned on. I also like the stylish look of this coffee maker. It has some stainless steel that really looks nice.

The only flaw it has is in the design of the carafe. It takes a little extra work to rinse it out, because somehow coffee gets in the upper band around the top and it doesn’t just rinse out. You have to turn it upside down with clean water in it a few times. I have gotten used to that flaw and otherwise I like this machine very much. It would be great if they put a better seal around the edge or something, but until then, I am happy with my Mr Coffee FTX45!
