Mr. Coffee brand FT Series Coffee Maker

by Rachel
(Minnesota, USA)

I currently am using the Mr. Coffee brand FT Series coffee maker. After years of working my way through expensive coffee makers purchased at the high end kitchen stores, I'm thrilled with the Mr. Coffee brand.

This model has two brew choices, regular and strong. It also has a delay brew - which we use all the time. It also has a temperature setting which allows for warmer coffee - which I like! It is capable of brewing 12 cups of coffee, and we make two pots a day.

I've had the coffee maker for about 6 months, and it still looks like new, even with all the use it is getting. One feature that I really like in this model is the automatic clean feature.

The coffee maker is capable of cleaning itself, with a pot full of vinegar.....works great! There is only one drawback - the water receptacle is not particularily easy to use - too small and splashes a little, but not the end of the world.

FT Series

This is the first time I have had a problem with a Mr Coffee. I bought a FT Series pot and it boils the coffee. You have to actually brew the coffee then shut it off or it boils and the coffee pot smells hot. Is anyone else having this problem?

FT Series Problem
by: Anonymous

I received a 12-cup Mr. Coffee FT series coffeemaker for Christmas 2010. After about a 1 1/2 months of use, it stopped brewing half-way thru the brewing time. The rest of the water just steams away & fills up my kitchen with hot steam. No matter what I do, the same thing keeps happening. I had kept the box for about 3 weeks to make sure it worked, & had no receipt from the gift-giver. So now I'm stuck with a broken coffeemaker. Discouraging. I won't get a Mr. Coffee again.

About 50% of the time mine overflows out the top and side of the carafe lid. The filter is not misaligned, nor is it folding over. The carafe is placed fully and properly into position. It doesn't matter if I'm making 10 cups or 8 cups. The carafe is completely empty of water at the beginning of the brew cycle. Despite all of this, by the last few cups the top seems unable to keep up with the flow of the drip.

I love the idea of this coffee maker, but I am taking it back tomorrow. I've had my fill of over-engineered, over-priced coffee makers that take twice as long to set up, have a tendency to overflow, and require instruction manuals that are more than 20 pages.
