Mr. Coffee 5 - Cup Coffee Maker # CGX7

by Harpreet
(U.K)

Mr. Coffee programmable 5-cup coffee maker (black) (Model: CGX7) This is the nearly perfect little coffeemaker, which I got to replace an ugly white 12-cup Mr. Coffee which belonged to my wife previously, that didn't have a timer.

I enjoyed making coffee at home but I didn't like the big clunky machine that took up too much counter space, wouldn't make coffee automatically, plus we were always throwing half a pot away.

This Mr. Coffee 5-cup is perfect. I noticed other similar models at other stores only make 4-cups but this one makes 5 which is just enough for that second cup without having to throw any away.

I like the black color even though it took some getting used to, to be able to see what I was doing without turning the kitchen light on, or to verify if there was already coffee made or still any left in the pot.

The timer works perfectly and is super easy to program, and it makes delicious coffee quickly with hardly any noise and not too much steam eminating from the brewing cycle (a problem with our old Black & Decker).

There are really only a couple of small drawbacks with this. One is, the "pause" feature in the brewing cycle doesn't work perfectly, a few drips will still come out when you pull out the coffee pot or if you don't put it back in just right.

Luckily, this is easy to quickly wipe up thanks to the slick nonstick surface on the warmer.

Number two is, the little coffeepot is almost impossible to pour at any normal speed without spilling it everywhere;it's almost like they designed it to drip on purpose as a practical joke, but you sort of get used to pouring it veeeery slow.

It's almost as hard to wipe the inside of the pot to clean it if you don't have tiny hands, but I always seem to manage.

The warming cycle is OK: it only stays on for one hour and can't be changed, so I find myself making coffee a few minutes later than I would otherwise especially on the weekend just to make sure it'll still be hot when I'm ready to drink it.

Also, programming the timer is not difficult unless you miss the time you were aiming for, then you have to go all the way around again. Basically it is inexpensive yet brilliant. Just what I was looking for at the right price.

Great while it lasted
by: The real Gorp

It worked well except for the leaks and it stopping after four months. What caused it to stop? Lights went on. Time went on. But no heat. Very sad day for me. Hurt leg. Only can drain coffee then microwave it. Where have you gone Joe Dimagieo?

Do not buy this coffeemaker

This coffeemaker only lasts about 3 or 4 weeks and then stops working. I thought the first one I had was just a bad coffeemaker, but the second didn't last any longer. I have had Mr. Coffee coffeemakers that lasted for years, but this model stinks!

Breaks quickly
by: Anonymous

I use my coffeepot twice a week. (on weekends) and after having it for just 2 months it broke. I exchanged it for another one and guess what, this one broke after just about one month. There must be something wrong with the design. I'm going back to my Procter Silex if I can find one.

Mr Coffee Maker CGX7

This is the worse coffee pot I have ever purchased. It has lasted all of 3 months. Coffee spills all over the place when pouring into a cup. I previously had a 5-cup Mr. Coffee that lasted for many years and it was made in the USA. This coffee pot that was made in China is not comparable.
