Keurig Special Edition Coffee Maker Issues

by Soccer Mom
(SW Georgia)

We bought the Keurig Special Edition Coffee Maker last summer. It works well with the K cups; we do use ultrafiltered water with it & I figure this may account for the fact that it continues to work well.

If you try to use the holder in which you can put in your own coffee, it works very poorly, spewing water out the sides & dribbling grounds into your cup. Obviously Keurig needs to better figure out that aspect of its brewer. For the time being though, it's K cups or nothing.

using coffee filter
by: Dan

If you want to use the coffee filter, instead of the k-cups to brew your own coffee, first , you cannot use fine ground coffee as it plugs up the filter and spews the coffee over the side. Second, on the top needle for puncturing the k-cup, there is a round rubber grommet or seal. It gets pushed up using the k-cups. Gently pull the rubber seal down to the bottom of the needle, so that just the point is sticking out. This will allow the seal to sit properly on the top of the coffee filter thus stopping any spillage.

fix for your coffee
by: Randall Alabama

I place a full size coffee filter in the gray k cup and push it to the bottom of the gray coffee holder then place the black screen filter in with a little bit of the filter sticking over the lip and pack my coffee in the k cup screen and it workes great. It leaves no fine coffee grines in your cup. Workes Great when I want to use my own coffee. try it

Help Needed
by: Robin

From what I am reading I don't have much of a chance for help from the Keurig Company.
My coffeemaker will only fill acup an inch or so.
I did all of the appropriate repairs: descaling and paper clip in needle and it is now worse.
Did anyone have luck with the company, I bought 2 of the Special Editions.

After 8 mos No Coffee
by: KeurigB70-Hype

It only took 8 months of great coffee to find out that the engineering of the Keurig B70 is living up to the negative hype. No draft suction produces drips and dribbles. Our Keurig B70 only received filtered water from our refrigerator; was descaled by filling the reservoir with vinegar every month - AND IT STILL FAILED! $200 for a single cup coffee brewer seemed worth it when it worked but now after only 8 mos - WITH NO METHOD OF REPAIR - has been a waste. We read the reviews, the problems from other Keurig B70 former customers, read all the troubleshooting comments, and NO LUCK. The most inspiring feedback was that Keurig offered one customer $50 towards the purchase of a new $199.99 device.

k cup filter
by: Dan

If you want to use your own coffee, and some people do, I found it best to tear the top off of a k-cup after you use it and dump out the used coffee, rince it out and put your own coffee in it, it will fit in the holder just fine then screw the top on and brew, also it has a filter inside the k-cup so this makes it perty nice.. you can use this cup 3 to 4 time before you need to replace it...

Excellent coffe maker
by: CarlaP

I am a extremely happy user of the Keurig single cup coffee maker. I purchased the limited edition two years ago and I have not had a single problem with my machine. In fact I am about to purchase another one for home since I brought this one to the office and everyone fell in love with in. In fact two of my co-workers have since purchased one for their homes.

NO HELP FROM KEURIG
by: Anonymous

This company will NOT acknowledge it has a problem with the inserts for brewing your own coffee. You have mentioned some of the problems and I have called the company 4 times for weak cups, water at the end, grounds, overflow, .... They had no record of my previous calls. And they seem to script their answers indicating that they don't choose to educate their staff but employ automatons who do not 'know' anything about the machines, but only have scripts to read. So as you say-Kcups or just take it back-maybe if people did that they'd listen.

Same Issues
by: Canada West Coaster

We have the same issues with our new Keurig Special Edition. If you want to avoid the leaks and spits, you have to hold your cup right up under the dispenser nozzle. So far the K cups work ok although many of the brands are very strong.
