Keurig Single Cup Brewer - sound like the grinding of rubber gears

We have had the Keurig single cup brewer for a little over a year; just long enough to be out of the warranty . It still works, but is making a sound like the grinding of rubber gears. We have 'descaled it as instructed, but the noise is back. For the price, these should last a lot longer.
