Keurig Platinum Coffee Maker "Terrible brewer"

I bought the Keurig Platinum after reading many positive reviews online, and was disappointed almost from Day 1.

It seemed to brew good coffee (not great, but good) for the first month or so. Then the coffee got very, very weak. I cleaned and descaled, but this only helped a bit.

I ended up brewing every cup on the smallest setting -- very expensive!! But I kept using it until it was about a year old and when I went to brew, the coffee maker made a terrible sound and steam started pouring out of the top and the display panel went blank.

I unplugged it, and when I tried to plug it in again, sparks flew! So I unplugged it for good and called Green Mountain, and they were no help.

They were telling me that I should wait a few hours and try it again; the fact that it was ON FIRE didn't seem to register with the person I spoke to. Fed up, I packed it back in the original box and took it to my local recycling center. I am DONE with these machines!!!
