Keurig Coffee Maker's Reusable user

Trouble with the reusable filter? Many Keurig-lovers thought they would save money and gain flexibility by buying the reusable filter accessory only to find that it brews a horribly weak cup of coffee.

The problem lies in the design of the filter casing which has a large hole, divided into four parts, at its bottom. Compare this with the K-cup which gets punctured at the bottom with a very small hollow needle permitting very little liquid to pass through it at one time.

This forces the hot water back into the K-cup, extracting all that coffee goodness from the grounds. To make your reusable filter work the same way you need to block three of the four holes at the bottom. Don't use glue or anything else that could leach into your coffee.

I used three little pieces of aluminum foil that I inserted into each hole and then bent over from inside to block the three holes. Now that liquid can only escape through one small hole, the hot water quickly backfills the filter basket and you can get a really strong cup of coffee. Caution! Do not block all four holes or you will create a coffee-ground leaky mess.
