Don't waste your money

We are on our 3rd Keurig. The first one had the pump problems. The second, the short cup thing and then wouldn't even turn on. Hopefully, the 3rd one will work better, but I doubt it. The CSR at Keurig was nice but you would think that after everyone getting more than one replacement unit (3 of my friends. We all bought them at the same time) they would fix the problems. I agree with all of the others that say the maintenance on them as reccommended by Keurig, is not worth it. Loved it in the beginning, but tired of all the problems. I would never reccommend these coffee makers to anyone. I wish that I had seen the reviews before purchased mine.

B70 not filling coffee cup
by: Anonymous

We finally had our 1st failure after 3 years. The machine kept taking in more water indicating it would brew the next larger size of cup, but next to no water came out. Finally found that putting a straw to the inlet (with water tank removed), plugging the vent at the top of the water tank and blowing into the machine a pluggage let go - piles of coffee grinds came spilling out. We then ran the 3 or 4 water tanks worth of water through and piles more coffee grinds came spilling out, eventually tapering off to a few grinds per cup; no k-cup was in place for this whole ordeal.

Eventually the machine was working again. It makes me think that a small amount of draw back occurs on each cup, thus pulling coffee grinds into the outlet piping (not just the needle that punctures the top of the cup). To seal the straw to the inlet (when the tank is removed) I took the gasket that seals the puncture needle with the top of the k-cup and put it on top of the inlet, making a nice seal with a thick walled straw. Just remember to move the gasket out of the way when putting the tank back on to draw in more water, and remember to put the gasket back on the puncture needle.

slow fill / shut-off premature
by: Anonymous

I resolved the problem myself, underneath the reseviour, where the unit recieves the water prior to the pump, there is a small very fine screen, if you remove the bottom of the machine you can access this by removing 2 small screws, once removed you can pull out the screen and clean it, this would be the potential cause of pump failures, due to lack of water flow.
This small screen just pulls out and pushes back into place, keep in mind it has a directional slot when replacing it. My unit worked perfect once I cleaned this screen.

B70 PUMPS FAIL - ALWAYS
by: Anonymous

Keurig coffee makers, B70, have a known pump problem which although they are aware continue to be unable to remedy. The failures are predictable and certain.

Needle cleaning
by: C Lane

Remove the k cup holder . The holder has a top piece and a bottom piece . There are two tabs holding the the two pieces together . Separate the top piece from the bottom piece . The tabs are not very flexible . Be careful not to break the tabs off . Look at the top piece from the underside of it . You will see the hole the coffee normally flows through , from the needle tube that pokes the hole in the bottom of the k cup . See if you can blow through the hole from the bottom . If not , you have a coffee grind jam up . This is the reason for the result of half cups or no cups . You may have to get a small paper clip , or something to get the jammed up coffee grinds out of the hole .

short and don't even make coffee
by: Anonymous

I have had mine for 3 months and have the same short cup problem...and you never know when. I use filtered water and don't even brew coffee with it because the k-cups are too strong for me. I generally use it to just make hot water and make instant coffee.

Very disappointing.

SORRY I BOUGHT THE THING! ! ! SAVE YOUR MONEY.
by: NE OHIO

We have experienced the on and off (more on than off) short cup issue, as well. Called Keurig, they walked me thru cleaning the K-cup, descaling, etc. Nothing worked. Received replacement machine this week. Hopefully there will be no more issues. This is more trouble than it is worth. If I had read the reviews before I purchased the unit in Dec 2010 I probably would have saved my money and bought another Bunn.
It was good to know that Kohl's replaced the unit. I purchsed mine at Kohl's, as well. Never thought about going back to store.

needle cleaning

After pulling the K-cup holder out of the machine , try removing the bottom piece of the K cup holder , buy carefully pulling out the tabs that hold the two pieces together . After pulling the bottom piece away from the top piece , you will see the hole the coffee runs through . Make sure all coffee , debris , etc. is all cleared from the hole . You should be able to see light through the hole . You will also be able to blow through the hole , from the bottom , rinse and repeat , til the hole is cleared from debris . Then rinse it out as well as possible again . Carefully re-attach the two pieces together . put the K-cup holder back in your machine , and you should be making coffee like your machine was new again . If not , you may have a problem with the pump ? or some other malfunction ? Hopefully this has helped ... Best of luck to all !

Thanks

Thx for the tip, seems to have worked so far although I still get a random partial cup. I used a sewing needle instead of a paper clip to clean the needle :)

Keurig coffee machine , grind jam up ...
by: C Lane

I had a similar problem with a b30 . The water would run through without a k-cup . The water would NOT run through with the k cup in place though . I had to take the k-cup holder apart and clean out the hole that the coffee runs through . It had coffee grinds stuck in the hole . The machine is working perfectly again !!! Just thought this may help out someone with a similar problem .
Good day !

short cups/water leaking
by: Bev C

I have also had the short cup problem, I descaled with vinegar twice, cleaned the holder, used the paper clip and still get short cups. When I take off the reservoir hot water comes out as well

was this made in China ?
by: Russeller

I have had my coffee maker for just over 1 year ... I use it no more then once a week and only bottled water. I have had the short cup issue several times over this past year and today it crapped out totally. I paid $140 for it at Costco .. thats way too much for no better then it has worked. I like the idea of K-cups but this kind of quality is unacceptable.

Pump not working
by: Anonymous

I have returned 3 Keurig due to the pump not working. I had about a week of not getting a full cup and now that pump is not working at all. I purchased at Kohls and they have been great about exchanging--even when I had the item for 6+ months. Love the machine when it is working.

partial cups and hot water leaking
by: Anonymous

I keep keep having problems with only getting partial cups. It will work ok for a while and then go back to partial cups.I have tried descaling and the paper clip in different places. Keurig told me I had not descaled enough but I never got the display message to descale and I had descaled it previously. (I use filtered water.) I have also had a problem with water leaking out of the bottom when I remove the water reservoir, which is hot water. Keurig was very nice when I called but never addressed that issue.

call keurig
by: Anonymous

i was having the exact same problem so i called kuerig because i had only had my maker a week! they were so nice, and so helpful, and apologetic.
basically they walked me through taking a paper clip and poking it into top needle that punctures the K-cup to clean it all out, then removing and replacing firmly the water reservoire.
then i had to run just water through it on the small cup cycle 3 times and make sure that i got 1 cup of water each time.
it completely fixed my problem!
also he said that it is better to used some kind of filtered water so that over time water calcium doesn't build up.
hope this helps!
