Is Keurig a 2-week coffee maker?

by Natalie
(Staten Island)

I am now on my second Keurig, it seems after about 2 weeks it will brew a cup and then make a straining noise and shut off. After I turn it back on, it either goes back to "ready" or makes another straining noise and shuts off. Its a 50/50. They Keurig Hotline will be more than glad to send you another Keurig, but this is getting old fast. If I hadn't stocked up on K-cups I would give up. Too expensive to last 2 weeks at a clip.

Keurig dribbling instead of brewing
by: Anonymous

Cleaning out the entry pin did the trick..at least for now...It is probably something that needs to done often. I think that is why the pump makes noise..the clog..if you know what I mean. We had ours 11 mo before a problem..not long enough!

Keurig Water Dribbling Solution
by: Anonymous

It seems like Keurig is ok with people who view their product as "disposable". The problem with dribbling water is really easy to take care of (at least on the Premium)...

Keurig doesn't seem to mention that there is an "Entry/Entrance Pin" in the handle (they only talk about an "Exit Pin"). This is the pin that punctures the top of the K-Cup. It has 3 holes where water comes out. These holes will get plugged up with coffee. You just have to take a paperclip and scrape out the little holes.

Same problem different model
by: LS - Campbell, CA

I'm on my second Platinum and have had the same problem: It spits out a little water, the pump makes a straining noise, and it stops. Unplug, power up, repeat. I've de-scaled, tried compressed air, removed any kind of cup, and it still fails to even pump water.

Keurig customer support replaced my first unit after a call. After the first unit went bad, I purchased the water filter with the idea it would help keep dirt from backing up the line. It didn't matter. The pump is just not working.

I had friends that love my Keurig and were planning on purchasing one, but I can't recommend it. Not until they start using a better pump.

No more for me. I love the coffee and convenience but the machine does not last more than 2 weeks. I want my money back.

On my Third Machine
by: Anonymous

I am on my 3rd Keurig, and I havent even had one full years worth of warranty on any of them. My first one shut itself off. The second one just quit working and now this third one is making a lot of noise and randomly does not work.

I have gotten a good response from customer service, each time they replaced my coffee maker without me returning anything. I live in Canada and the toll free number does work!

My family is frustrated with this machine, but I do love the coffee that it produces. So, I hope it lasts a little longer otherwise I will demand my money back.

Same problem....
by: Anonymous

I bought my Keurig at Costco and really liked it. The first one lasted 2 weeks before it just stopped working - water would just dribble into the cup. I returned it to Costco and got another one. It lasted just 5 days - same problem. Costco must be used to getting these coffee makes back......

Not worth the money!
by: Anonymous

I first bought a Keurig B60 in error, I had really wantd the Keurig B70. Keurig stated I could return the B60 for a refund, but they were all out of B70's, which I had wanted in the first place. I then ordered one through JC Penneys and have had nothing BUT TROUBLE since
day one. When I call customer service they just
say to descale it. Which I had done, but not having used it more than a dozen times the first
time I called, cannot understand why I would have to descale it. This same unit was in our office and used repeatedly on at 5 day basis by
4-6 people and never had this problem.
I now have just placed another call to them stating that when a Kcup is place is used the
water just dribbles out and does not fill the cup. When just water is pushed through, it fills
the cup. Now why is that???? I am so dissatified with my B70 and I do not believe they
would send me another one to make me happy, nor
two boxes of kcups as one person commented they
did for him and he was so happy with the service.
I am not happy with the service nor the coffemaker. A friend was over and they just laughted at the trouble I was having making them a cup of coffee. Said for the price of the machine it sure ran like a piece of JUNK!!!
Keurig was so busy that they will be returning my
call. I can sure understand what kind of calls they are busy with, can't you!!!

On My 4th Coffee Maker
by: Anonymous

I am on my 4th Keurig (actually my 5th...my 1st was a B-40 that worked like a charm but wanted to upgrade). That's when my problems started. I purchased a Special Edition model from Costco & almost immediately started having the problem of the water not being drawn up from the reservoir. I never registered it with Keurig so when I called them they basically said to return it to Costco. The gentleman I spoke with seemed surprised by the problem I was having and offered no suggestion of what might be happening. I returned to Costco & exchanged the coffee maker for another one. Within a week it started doing the same thing. I exchanged it again and again, the same problem! This time I took it back, got my money back & went to a different store & bought a Platinum B-70. Guess what? I am still having the SAME problem. Keurig does not acknowledge that this is a common problem. I just got off the phone with a tech and she is having me descale the unit, which I am doing, but have little hope that this will solve the problem.

bad help

Just called to find out what to do with the coffee maker we got stopped working 2 months after we got it. The person I spoke to said she had not heard of any problems maybe she should read this web site.

Same here.....

We have had the same problems! We've had to reset it for awhile now then it did the brewing noise and dribbled but nothing more. Very frustrating! If so many people are having these same problems, Keurig needs to regroup and focus on making a better coffee maker. We ended up going back to the good old fashioned black and decker coffee maker. What a waste of money!

Just call them, they replace it
by: steve

I have the same problems, the machine won't prime water properly, and when it begins to brew the water will only dribble out. The machine works only about 10% of the time. I called Keurig at 866-901-BREW, gave the SN, date of purchase and location of purchase. They are shipping a new unit with 2 boxes of K-cups for free. Very happy with their customer service.

k-cup issues and answers
by: Anonymous

I also had a maker that would shut off. The description about the water not getting drawn into the heating element makes sense and is probably why. My story is that I went and bought a charcoal filter for the tank and added it. After removing that filter it drew water just fine so the water filter was not allowing a good flow of water. I also have noticed that occasionally the k-cup itself must have the coffee compacted too tight or something becaues the water will not flow and when I would remove the k-cup I found it full of water.
So I don't think it is the machine as much as some of the applications. But one would think that the water tank should easily open for the water input... they have several models and you would think they have it down... they replaced my machine I bought at QVC (which was very noisy) with a B60, brand new and it is much quieter and I like it better.

Mine Shuts Down Too
by: Anonymous

That's exactly what happens with mine. I really like it - although I like my coffee a little weaker than the pods' serving - but it's been shutting itself off randomly since the third month.

I think I figured out what's happening this morning. There's a little piece at the bottom of the water bin that pushes up to fill the heater. For some reason, it's not getting pushed up to release the water. I fiddled with it and it worked but something in the mechanics is failing.

I'd like to call and get it replaced but I'm in Canada and the toll free number doesn't work from here. I'm surfing now to find a Canadian number to call.

Yup

Ours too! Same situation, just shuts off when it should cycle after brewing a cup and siphon water from the reservoir. Sometimes off completely with nothing on display and sometimes everything is off but the time on the display. Flip the little switch in the back and it resets.
