GE 5-Cup Digital Coffee Maker #169208

by Jack Lindblad
(Chicago, Illinois )

GE 5-Cup Digital Coffee Maker Model Number #169208 My little GE coffee maker is a gift sent from heaven. Every morning I get up after a long deep sleep and what do I smell? That’s right coffee, no bacon or eggs or toast.

I smell just the all encompassing smell of fresh made coffee. I know you coffee nuts out there know what I’m talking about. This thing makes around 5 cups of coffee a day for my morning shift at work. All I have to do is remember to put the water and ground coffee in at night and it makes it all by itself.

It even shut itself off after an hour so you don’t get that burn’t trucker coffee taste. I also think that something so small could make such an awesome cup of coffee. I now have more room on my kitchen counter for other things.

The clock on the front could be a little better for people with vision issues, but that would make the thing bigger wouldn’t it. Also they have filters that you can get that you can reuse but they leave a little bit of grounds at the bottom.

So just by the plain paper ones if you can’t deal with a little bit of shifting. I can even take the pot off when I want some coffee, even when it is brewing and get me a sweet cup of Joe.Owner for 3 months 5 out of 5.

Wouldn't buy it again.
by: G. Fronko

I have not had this coffee pot very long, but the top cracked and will not stay closed. The carafe does not pour the coffee correctly. Every time you go to pour the coffee, it leaks all over the table or counter. I don't think this product is very good. I have cautioned others not to buy this product. What happened to good workmanship?

broken carafe
by: Anonymous

After 30 days of use the carafe broke. I was holding it by the handle and drying off the bottom with the other hand when the neck broke, apparently unable to take any pressure. I have been looking, but cannot find a replacement carafe, so far. The carafe also has a very uncomfortable handle that feels like it will slip out of your hand. The machine seems ok but does not really make a full 5 cups. I would not buy it again because of the carafe, otherwise I would.

Replacement Carafe
by: Charity

I broke my carafe this morning (after only having the machine for a week!) and I went thru the whole song and dance on where to find a replacement. Went back to Walmart and they didn't have it. I called the toll free customer service and told the CSA what had happened and she told me that Walmart should carry the replacements and if they don't have one then I was to go to Customer Service and request one be shipped to that store.

So after I'd done all that and gotten a Department Manager involved it turns out that Walmart does NOT and can NOT order just the carafe ~ they have to order the whole machine!!!!! Seriously?

So this is what I've been able to find: http://www.google.com/products?q=5+cup++carafe+replacement&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=ahljTOSsKIOBlAer7v3ICg&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CEIQrQQwAg

The problem is that nobody has a 5 cup carafe. They are all at least 10 to 14 cups. The reviews on the Medelco brand universal carafe is not good.

I sent GE an email and told them to get with it (like that will happen!) and after all that Walmart replaced the whole thing for me. But just this one time.

No Carafe??
by: Gloria

I love my 5-cup GE coffee maker because it makes enough for me without taking up so much counter space. To sell the coffee maker and not make a replacement carafe is ridiculous. Next time I will buy Mr. Coffee. They make the replacement carafes and stock them in Walmart. (That Replacement Carafe won't fit the GE, so don't bother).

I've since e-mailed GE/Wal-Mart regarding this and they've made good on replacing the entire unit as part of the 2-year warrantee.

GE Model 169208 5-Cup Coffee Maker
by: Joe Forte

We have a brand new GE 5-Cup coffee maker and have broken the carafe. Any suggestions on where to find a replacement?
I've called the GE Customer service toll free number and was advised that they do not stock replacement carafes. Suggestion was made to do an online search. This too has come up with nothing.
Can you help?
