Delonghi Twenty Four Seven Coffee Maker

I purchased a Delonghi Twenty Four Seven drip brew coffee maker several years ago and have been very pleased with it.

It is a small unit and makes up to four cups of coffee, which is about the right size for one to two people. The unit contains a metal filter and filter holder that are removable for cleaning.

The carafe is glass with a white plastic handle and lid. The top of the coffee maker flips open for adding water to the resevoir. A heating element under the carafe keeps the brewed coffee warm while the unit is still powered on.

The unit does not contain an automatic shutoff or an automatic coffee grinder. Using the coffee maker is easy. Simply pour the desired amount of water (can be measured with carafe) into the back reservoir, add coffee grinds to the filter, place the carafe securely on the heater and turn the power on.

The coffee will brew into the carafe in about 5 minutes. The simplicity of the coffee maker makes it easy to use. One nice feature is that the maker will stop dripping coffee into the carafe if it is removed during the drip process.

This means coffee can be poured before the entire pot is brewed without worrying about spilling coffee. Another convenience is that excess length in the power cord can be stored in the base of the unit; this has the advantage of minimizing the amount of cord lying on the countertop.

I have only had a few issues with the machine. If the carafe is not sitting level on the heating unit, the coffee will not drip into the carafe. This does not happen often and is easy to correct to allow the flow to begin.

Also, the water reservoir occasionally collects some coffee grinds and getting into that small area to clean can be difficult.

(This seems to be an issue with most coffee maker, though) Overall, I’ve been very happy with my unit. It has held up well for the past several years and brews nice strong coffee for me (although I tend to use a paper filter in addition to the metal one to make cleanup easier).

It is simple to use and several parts can be put in the top rack of the dishwasher for easy cleaning. I have purchased a number of DeLonghi products over the years and have always been impressed with the quality.
