DeLonghi 4-cup coffee maker

by Annabel
(Washington, USA)

I have owned a DeLonghi 4-cup coffee maker for four years. I originally bought it because a previous Mr. Coffee model had leaked badly and I had heard good things about the DeLonghi brand.
It has done great service for me. I have used 4-cup makers for several years because I find with a bigger coffee maker you get a burned taste with a single cup.

I particularly like the DeLonghi because it has the automatic shut-off feature when you take the pot off the element. You might think this feature wouldn’t be necessary when making a single mug at a time, but I use it surprisingly often. The coffeemaker uses cone filters and has a removable filter holder that is easy to clean.Occasionally grounds get out of the filter and block the valve, but this happens fairly seldom—much less often than with my model that had a “bowl-style” filter.

After several years, it has developed a small leak if water is allowed to sit in the reservoir so I just fill it right before using it.

It also works great for serving after-dinner coffee when I have guests—my vintage china has small cups so the 4-cup model serves just enough for two couples.

If I want to make more coffee, I just put some in an insulated carafe.
