My current coffee maker is the Brookstone Stainless Steel Single Cup Coffee Maker 515395.

It was a holiday gift from my parents that they gave to me during college right after I began drinking coffee regularly. They bought me a "travel-sized" coffee maker since they thought it would be the "right size" for my small college dorm. (They were right.)

This particular model only brews one cup at time, and the sleek, 6-oz silver mug it comes with is virtually the only mug that will fit inside the coffee maker. (I once tried to squeeze a slightly wider cup into the opening. It was made of some kind of hard plastic, and as the hot liquid heated the cup, it expanded and cracked.)

However, despite its obvious limitations, I have grown to be a big fan of this coffee maker. For one thing, it is very small and thus highly portable, something that is very convenient for a young 20-something like me who has shipped or carried this coffee maker to 4 or 5 different apartments since first owning it 3 years ago. Recently, I even tucked this coffee maker into my work bag to carry it into my office, since we were lacking any device capable of making caffeinated beverages.

I've never owned another coffee maker, and although my roommates have now introduced me to the joys of a 12-cup coffee pot, I still like my own sleek Brookstone mini. I have lived with a lot of non-coffee drinkers, and there is something to be said for being restricted to just one cup at a time. I enjoy the one cup more knowing that it is the only cup I can have until I can be bothered to dump out the filter and start again...and besides, most days, you really don't need 12 cups of coffee all to yourself.
