Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker ( DCC-1200)

Last year we bought Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker ( DCC-1200) through a points reward system.

I love this new machine, not just because it is the same one that Charlie Sheen uses on Two and a Half Men, but because the coffee tastes great.

I use the programmable feature and have the coffee ready for the family in the morning. It is a fantastic wake-up aid – you can smell the fresh pot brewing and coffee is ready as soon as you are.

I do get impatient in the morning and very much appreciate the Brew Pause feature that allows me to sneak a cup of coffee before the brewing has finished.

I like the signal that tells you when to clean the machine as my old model – a store-brand generic – used to just seize-up without warning and leave a mess on the counter.

I’ve cleaned it easily with vinegar – cheaper than commercial preparations – because the signal provides an early warning system and the machine does not get too clogged up.

If I have one regret about this machine – and really it is my own fault – I would have bought the grind and brew version with the thermal carafe.I tend to break carafes filling them – sleepily in the morning. And a thermal carafe is much more durable.

That said I love the Cusinart brand and have other Cusinart appliances that have lasted forever and, like the coffee machine I have, provided a high quality product that looks smart sitting on my kitchen counter.
