Black & Decker DLX850

by Joanie
(Indiana, USA)

We have a Black & Decker 12-cup coffee maker DLX850.

As far as providing coffee quickly just when you want it, it’s awesome for that. We simply pour the water into the reservoir, plug it in, put in a clean filter and coffee grounds, and within minutes the coffee is ready.

We love the pause feature, which is nice when you want to grab some before it’s finished brewing. The problem with it, which wasn’t major once we got used to it, is that the cup markings on the carafe do not match up right with the markings on the window side of the reservoir. In other words, if you want 6 cups of coffee, you’d normally go to the sink and fill the carafe up to the line that says “6,” and you’d pour the water into the reservoir. But when you pour it in it doesn’t measure 6 anymore, but 7. It was not a big deal once we got accustomed to it.

We enjoy the timer feature that turns it on by itself. Our previous coffeemaker was a Mr. Coffee 12-cup. With that we had difficulties with the filters folding inward all the time because the spout that shoots out water over the grounds was too close to the side. We often had to clean up a mess, because the grounds then would accumulate and no coffee came out into the carafe.

This Black & Decker has a spout that is situated right in the middle over the grounds, so the filter does not collapse!

We bought this Black and Decker DLX850 coffee maker at Wal-mart. We wanted a really good one and hoped it would be a higher quality than the Mr. Coffee, which in many ways it is.
