Black And Decker ODC325N Space Maker Coffee maker's Junk

by Marvin
(Alabama)

Yes I own Two Black and Decker ODC325N Space maker Coffee maker's, the warmer plate still works, and since they were purchased several years ago and not put into service until this year they were not covered by the warranty.

They Both lasted about six to nine months before the Brewing element went out. I thought "Oh no big deal, I'll just order the parts I need to repair them"

Upon contacting Black And Decker/Salton I received the following letter in response:

"Thank you for contacting Applica Consumer Products, Inc., a subsidiary of Salton, Inc. We value you as a customer and appreciate your patronage.

In reference to your parts inquiry, the parts requested are not consumer replaceable items; therefore, we are unable to provide them."

They went on to tell that they use only the highest quality parts BLA,BLA,BLA This IS an INSULT ! they didn't ask if I was a dealer or repair shop, Just implied that ALL Consumers are too stupid to work on their JUNK ! Why In the world Would I spend another fifty or sixty dollars EACH for their product (made in China) when I can purchase another Chinese made product for Less than ten dollars?

All this stuff is being sent to our landfills when it could be repaired, Salton is just trying to cover their _$$, by not selling parts to the consumer, they avoid any liability. Personally I will NOT purchase another Black and Decker product and I will be very careful when Buying any other Salton product

mail to B & D sent back to us
by: Anonymous

We needed a part for the B&D space-saving coffee maker, so I looked at my owner's manual, found the part I needed and sent a check and the order form off to the address that was listed on my owner's manual. That letter got sent back to me, because that address was no longer for Black and Decker.
So, we've gone ahead and nursed it along, because we really do need the extra counter space, but now the part that we needed is completely broken and so out coffee maker is now ON the counter, where we do not want it. When we've been out shopping, we have looked for other space-saver coffee makers, and we have not come across ANY! I'm not really sure that B & D makes those coffee makers anymore.

my experiance with B&D space makers
by: Anonymous

I too have been using the B&D space makers coffee machines for the last 12 yrs my first one lasted a good 6 yrs before the element burnt. I was very satisfied with the machine so I replaced it with a new space maker machine it lasted about 4 yrs not quite as long as my first one. Purchased another one it lasted about one and a half years. Now I am not very happy had to replace it with a new unit again. Guess what I am about 14 months into this new unit and it now leaks like a sieve. I cannot justify purchasing another Black and Decker coffee maker there quality has gone down and there service is to say the least very poor.
I guess Black and Decker is on its way to the dump and I will not be looking for any more B&D products.
Too bad they now sell crap under that name.

Black & Decker Bread Maker & Blender are junk
by: Anonymous

This year I replaced both my bread maker and blender with Black & Decker products. Both items failed within a few months of use. Of course they will honor the warranty and send a replacement for a shipping cost of around $15.00 total to the customer but, I am seeing a pattern in the quality and reliability of the Black & Decker products and don't want to put another $1.00 towards the junk and aggravation.

water on the counter-top
by: Anonymous

The "Spacemaker" is a poor design because water drips onto the counter and 6 cups ends up being about 5 because all the water does not reach the coffee grounds..
