4 cup Mr Coffee maker

by Drew
(Nashville, Tn. USA)

My 4 cup Mr Coffee hasn't last 2 yrs and has developed a dangerous water leak while brewing. At first I thought I had just spilled water which at the time hadn't occured to me that the unit was leaking. I find this very dangerous as it could cause electrical shock and or fire.

While in the store looking at a alternative model, I spoke with another couple that had just returned theirs due to leaking and they told me that there was another person returning theirs due to water leaking out while brewing as well.

Update...

Curious as to where this coffee maker is produced, I found this little tid bit.

A consumer lawsuit accuses Sunbeam Products of knowingly selling defective Mr. Coffee coffee makers to millions of consumers. Plaintiff Susan Wallis of DeKalb County, Ill., charges that each of three Mr. Coffee machines leaked hot water, coffee and grounds on her kitchen counter.

The suit, which seeks class action status, alleges that problems with the coffee makers became increasingly evident after Sunbeam closed the longtime Mr. Coffee plant in Cleveland and moved production to Matamoros, Mexico, leaving 390 Ohio workers without jobs.

Because of this, I will not be investing in another Mr Coffee maker, a product of Sunbeam, another quality product made in MEXICO.

The 4 cup Mr Coffee maker is defective. I thought it was just one coffee maker so I purchased a second one. The exact same thing is happening. Within a month the water does not flow into the coffee and the maker makes a loud hissing sound. The water leaks out the bottom and the electric outlet gets hot (the plug). I would never recommend this product. I would like to make a complaint to the company. From what I have read the company knew it was defective. Shame on them

design flaws
by: Anonymous

I am very disappointed with this coffee maker. The valve does not pop open to allow the cofee to flow into the carafe and this will happen evertime I use it unless I "set" it in a certain spot. Then it may not hold it in place and the basket fills with hot coffee and overflows. Also the valve will not shut off to allow me to get a cup before the brewing stops. And the spout drips a lot with pouring. I am going to buy a different brand and I do not recomend this product. I expected better quiality from Cuisinart. I have also stopped using the 12 cup maker DGB 600BC ($150 wasted money) because the valve does the same thing. It seems to be a design flaw and one would hope that this is redesigned if Cuisinant wants to sell a better product.
